Connect

The LIS community is …

Strong and active. Our strength is derived from the active commitment of teachers, parents, and students to education and learning as a community. We organize over 200 events every academic year.

Connected and socially responsible. We are connected to the people of Luanda, Angola and Africa. Students, families and staff participate in a wide range of activities in and around Luanda. Activities range from visiting Angolan schools and cultural sites to collaborating with local organizations to raise funds and accomplish community projects.

Vibrant and inclusive. At the end of any school day, you will find friends chatting in the shade of the jango, students sharing their learning and teachers engaging with families. Our campus is the venue where community members connect and build lifelong friendships. We look forward to welcoming you to the LIS community.

Jango Jumble 2019

Dear Teachers and Parents,

The Kimbo team, supported by the Primary Student Leadership Group, is organizing another Jango Jumble, a very successful event that has been hosted for the past few years with the help of the LIS community.

We would like to ask for donations of items you do not use anymore so we may give them to those who will benefit: our local staff at LIS. We are looking for items such as clothing, shoes, toys, books, household items, and other things in good condition that might be enjoyed by our local staff.

In the past few years, more high-ticket items have also been donated along with the many useful clothes and items listed above. This has allowed us to organize raffles for things such as a mountain bike, a pair of Chanel sunglasses, a camping tent, and even a ping-pong table.

Last year we set a goal of collecting 800 items and we well-exceeded this target. While we don’t view the number of items collected as a measure of our community’s generosity, we hope that we can achieve a similar level of success this year.

We start collecting Tuesday, the 23rd of April and the drive will close on the 14th of May. You or your child can bring donations to N’Zinga building, room 14 (Ms. Leong) or to the box next to the Secondary Office. There will also be another collection point in Library Room 1 (Ms. Alison Francis) and/or in front of the Primary Office.

Thank you,

Inês and Cristina, On behalf of Kimbo and Primary Student Leadership Group
