As the new Year 6 class embarks on their final year of the Primary Years Programme (PYP), they began their journey with an unforgettable day of camping and activities on the LIS campus.
The adventure kicked off with a viewing of the movie Migration, sparking discussions about the importance of making diverse friendships and embracing differences. This message set the tone for the year ahead, reminding students that teamwork, respect, and understanding are key as they navigate their final chapter of PYP.
Divided into teams, the students launched into LIS’ very first tent-building competition. The excitement was palpable as groups quickly formed, working together to construct their home for the next day—a symbolic start to the adventure. The day was filled with laughter and bonding as students participated in games like tug-of-war, a thrilling piñata smash, and a fun trivia session, all of which strengthened the connections within their "tribes".
Through these activities, the students naturally began to exhibit leadership qualities and a growing sense of team spirit. The camping experience aimed to teach compassion, leadership, and camaraderie, fostering an environment where they could care for each other, build lasting relationships, and truly embrace the beauty of diversity during an engaging storytelling session.
This exciting campout has set the stage for a year full of learning, growth, and friendship as Year 6 students take on new challenges and adventures together!
