This weekend was filled with travel and competition for our LIS swimmers and volleyball players as they competed in South Africa for the SAISA Swim/Volleyball Championships. The girls volleyball team placed a respectable 5th and some of our girls played on the Barbarians team which was made up of players from different schools and placed 4th. Our boys volleyball team won the gold medal defeating host AISJ in two straight sets.
We had many swimmers as young as 10 years old who were 4-5 years younger for their age category with one of them competing at the U19 age category level. Every swimmer came away with a medal for a top-3 finish. One of our 13-year old swimmers won the top overall swimmer in the U19 age category which is incredible!
A huge thank you to the LIS community who supported these athletes from home and in South Africa. A special thank you to the coaches for a great season!
